The past 15 years for me have included a shift to private practice (2002), which automatically doubled my workload, and then some. I had to widen my focus to include reaching the people I know I can help while operating and growing my business.

People are always looking for ways to make the most of their time, which creates a demand. And as we all know, where there is demand, supply is soon to follow. Taking time out of a busy schedule to drive to a counseling session is difficult during the work day, and when the day is over it is time to go home – not to another appointment. Only when things get really bad are people willing to set aside that time.

Even as you read this, people are finding solutions via the Internet; whether it’s to locate a provider close to home or office; or to find resources on a website (now rivaling the self-help section of the local bookstore); or to find coaching by telephone, email, Skype, or chat.

It is highly likely that most of you won’t find the time it will take to catch up either. How can you when you are trying to keep a practice afloat and take care of your clients? But that is not going to stop the train that is the Internet. And it is not going to stop people from jumping onto that train as the supply for online options rise to meet the demand.

So The Question Now is “How Do We Keep Up or Catch UP?”

That’s where people like me come in. I started out in 2002 trying to find ways to use the Internet for my business and over the past 15 years have accumulated a pretty broad skill set that I think is of great value to my colleagues.

For example, I designed and created this website as a prototype specifically for healthcare professionals and other human service providers who take appointments. I designed it keeping in mind all the needs mentioned in the first paragraph of this article. If you haven’t already done so, take a look around to see what’s possible.

Do you need everything you find here? Typically not if you are just starting out. You need the basics to start and you can grow into the rest, if at all. On the other hand, if you already have the basics maybe it’s time to take it to the next level by adding some of these features and functionality.

To me there is not much that frustrates me more than a website I can’t rely on to CONSISTENTLY do what I need it to do. That’s why I put all of my focus into developing this prototype for people like us.
